FAQ for the Granite Oaks Dance Team

FAQ for the Granite Oaks Dance Teamtitle

When is the Granite Oaks Dance Team season?

We will begin our first practices the last week of July, with a mandatory dance camp at Rocklin High
School!  Our season will begin during the first week of school and extend through mid-December.

When do we hold team practices during the school year?

Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school until 4:45.

Where does the Granite Oaks Dance Team perform?

We perform at school rallies and the fall and winter Granite Oaks home sporting events. We will also make a special appearance at one Rocklin and one Whitney High School football game.   Performances can be any day of the week.
There is usually an average of 3 performances a month. Our goal is to promote Granite Oaks, entertain
fans and prepare students who may want to be on the dance teams in high school.

What is the cost to be on the Granite Oaks Dance Team?

Parents must pay for the cost of camp, $215, our largest expense, as well as our uniform. We attempt to
keep costs down as much as possible. The typical cost is $400 - $500 for the season.

When are auditions for the team?

Auditions will be held for two consecutive days at the beginning of April. We expect dancers to join us for
both days unless there is an unavoidable circumstance.

What to expect at auditions?

Dancers we will asked to show their dance technique across the floor with kicks, leaps and turns.
Dancers will be taught a short routine to be performed at the end of each day. We are looking for dance
technique, how quickly dancers pick up new material, performance skills, how much a dancer can
improve the second day and of course, a positive attitude! We want you to have fun and show us your
love of dance!

How many dancers are selected for the team?

Like any sport, dance team cannot take everyone and will select the best dancers who audition. We will
select between 10-15 members for the dance team.
