Class Policies

Attendance:
TardiesAll classes are consistent with the school's policy regarding tardies. After the third tardy, a behavior slip is issued and continues for each tardy.
Absences: You are responsible for making up work missed due to excused absences. All lessons, handouts, Power Points, videos, etc. are on my webpage, so it is your responsibility to go on line, find all resources, and complete the work. By doing so, you can keep up with your class. Any planned absence for 5 or more days requires written documents to be filed with the school and an independent contract signed in order to earn credit for absent work. Should you miss only a partial day, you are responsible for the lesson, homework, and getting or printing necessary materials for that day in order to be on track with attending students and not receive late credit.
Truancies: You will receive a zero for all work due on the day of an unexcused absence.
Writing:
Use a dark pencil or a dark blue or black pen for in-class writing. All final drafts writing assignments must be typed, saved to a computer at home and a flash drive, printed at home or before school starts, and/or emailed as a last resort before class or the assignment will be considered late. Final drafts must have the typed Name, Date, and Period in the upper right hand corner have all the identifiers in them, and use Times New Roman 12 font size. Plan accordingly for all writing assignment, use all resources, and make sure that you take care of what you missed if you were absent.
Materials:
Please have paper, writing utensils, several different colored highlighters, a flash drive, and a three-ringed binder with the appropriate six tabs (please see the course outline). Some projects will require additional materials and/or PowerPoint (please consult handout instructions).

Grading:
I grade assignments using points. Quizzes, Tests, Final Drafts, and Projects are 50% of your grade, homework and classwork are 40% of your grade, and AR is 10% of your grade. Homework assignments are worth between 10 and 50 points. Tests, Final Drafts, Projects, Quizzes are generally worth 20 to 100 points.
